R. Guy Danais

PLYMOUTH, MASS. -- R. Guy Danais, age 62, died on November 1, 2009 at his home in Plymouth following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Jeanne F. Dickey, Jr. Born in Berlin on July 15,1947, he was the beloved son of the late Edouard M. Danais, M.D., and Pauline (Vallee) Danais.
Guy was educated in New Hampshire, a high school graduate of Mt. Assumption Institute, attended St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, as well as the Berklee School of Music in Boston. For most of his life, Guy worked as an independent insurance agent, self-employed until this past February, semi-retiring due to his health. He was a talented musician, and enjoyed playing the drums. He played in various bands in the Boston Area in the 50s and 60s He and his brother Marcel played at various functions in Norther New England. While at St. Anselms he and three other classmates formed the US Band.
He was also an avid golfer, loved to travel and enjoyed cooking. He appreciated a good party and held a special place close to his heart for the love of his life, Jeanne. Besides leaving his wife, Guy was the loving father of and is survived by his two sons, Robert Danais of Washington state, and Daniel of Plymouth; his two step-daughters, Jeanne Hegner of Brooklyn, NY, and Tricia Walker and her husband Scott of Somerville, Mass. He also was the beloved brother of Suzanne Lemieux and her husband Raymond of Shelburne, Marcel Danais and his wife Gert of Berlin, and cherished grandfather of Makayla McShane of Plymouth.
Calling hours are 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at 12:15 p.m. from the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bonaventure’s Church, State Rd., Manomet (Plymouth) at 1 p.m. Cremation will take place at Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth. Richard W. Lessard

NORTH CONWAY -- Mr. Richard W. Lessard, 88, 5 Bangor St., Gorham, passed away Saturday morning, October 31. 2009, following a short illness. He was born in Bertin. April 7. 1921, a son of Wilfred and Bernadette Morel Lessard.
A long time resident of Gorham, Mr. Lessard taught French at Gorham High School from 1960 to his retirement in 1983.
Mr. Lessard left home at a young age and attended a Malist high school in Tyngsborough, Mass. As a Malist Brother, he received a BS degree from Fordham University in 1948, and was a music director and director at Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx, NY, for several years. He was later transferred to a Malearnedist high school in Lowell, Mass., where he taught chemistry until the late 1950s. He held a Masters degree in Chemistry and later earned a Masters in French from Middlebury COllege in 1965.
For the past several years, Mr. Lessard was a violin instructor and inspiration to many children and adults in the Gorham area. He often performed with his students at area festivals, church, and other community functions. He was a member of the American String Teachers Association.
Mr. Lessard is survived by his son, Michael R. Lessard and daughter-in-law Joy Lessard, Nottingham; two grandchildren, Lauren and Allison Lessard, Nottingham; two brothers, Norbert Lessard, Berlin, Edward Lessard, Gorham; two sisters, Doris Hynes. Meriden, and Lorraine Thomas, Kennebunk, Me. He is predeceased by his wife, Doris C. Lessard, and by brothers Roland and Paul Lessard.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday, November 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 33 Exchange Street in Gorham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 11 am at Holy Family Church in Gorham. Internment will be at the Holy Family Cemetery.

Beatrice L. Miller

GORHAM -- A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Beatrice L. Miller, of Gorham, on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Holy family Church, with Father Jeffrey Statz as celebrant. The cantor was Denise Sanschagrin, accompanied by Linda Lévesque as organist.
The pall was placed by her six children, her sons Jerome, Theodore, and Thomas, and her daughters, Jackie and Lydia Miller and Jan Ormsbee, who also placed the cross.
Interment followed the services in Holy Family Cemetery.
A delegation from the Marie Rivier Association included Barbara Vachon, Therese Bergeron, Helene Francoeur, Dorothy LeBreton, Jean-Paul Poirier, Louise Estrella, Greg Estrella, Beatrice Poulin, Ginger Doherty, Pearl Ray, Linda Belanger, Rolande Cloutier, Dorothy Ferrante, Sister Pauline Sauvageau, Presentation of Mary all from Berlin and Gorham, and Sister Estelle Leveille, Presentation of Mary from Manchester.
There were numerous friends and family members that attended the services from in and out of town.
