Built in 1863 as an authentic, traditional country inn, The Cranmore Inn stands as a proud reminder of our heritage of New England hospitality. Located on a quiet, residential side street one block east of the center of North Conway Village, The Cranmore Inn operates in the heart of New Hampshire's scenic White Mountains. Inn guests can walk to many village shops, restaurants, pubs and nightlife, as well as the village ice rink and a good sledding hill (in winter), and the Conway Scenic Railroad station, North Conway Country Club golf course, and summer stock and movie theatres (in summer and fall).
Excellent downhill and cross country skiing are also close by. Mt. Cranmore is only 1/3 mile from the Inn, and Attitash, Black, and Wildcat ski areas are all located only a short drive from the inn. Guests can cross country ski right from the inn through the trails of neighboring Whittaker Woods (136 acres), or access the trails of the Mt. Washington Valley Nordic Ski Center, three miles away, or the more extensive trails of Jackson Ski Touring Center 9 miles north. During fall and summer months spectacular sightseeing, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and canoeing, and numerous attractions abound in the surrounding mountains and valleys. Of course, world class factory outlet shopping is available all year round in the North Conway outlet malls.
The Cranmore Inn is a three story, white clapboard building sitting on an acre of land. The property has a large private parking lot, and a spacious back yard with a 20' X 40' outdoor swimming pool (open summers only). Our guest rooms are appointed with furnishings dated from the mid 1800's through the 1930's, though modernized with queen and king sized beds and private bathrooms. The Inn's 18 guest rooms are, with few exceptions, located on the second and third floors of the building. There are no telephones or televisions in the guest rooms. The first floor holds the inn's television parlor (with original tin ceiling), the main sitting room with its oak-mantled fireplace, the cardroom with a 1930's refrigerator for guest use, the guest telephone, the dining room and office. During winter months, the office has racks to accomodate guests skis and equipment.
The Cranmore Inn is a family owned and operated business which lends to the homey, relaxed atmospohere of the inn. Chris and Virginia Kanzler, with their children Harrison and Taylor, have been operating the Inn for 12 years. The Kanzler's strive to keep The Cranmore Inn as a "Country Comfortable" example of traditional New England hospitality rather than just another run-of-the-mill- lodging facility.
