Morning Discussion
Today high pressure crests over the northeast early then begins to slide east. As the high crests, winds will dampen but as the high departs, winds will increase slowly once again. Skies will start clear today but as the day progresses, high clouds will start to move in from the west ahead of a weak cold front. This front will continue to thicken and lower clouds overnight bringing a chance of rain after midnight, especially north. Clouds and the threat of rain showers for most of the state will continue into tomorrow as the front passes. Skies will start to clear a bit after the frontal passage tomorrow afternoon into the overnight. There is some indication for thunderstorms with the frontal passage, but this will come down to timing of the passage. Since the probability was so low, I left them out of tomorrows forecast, but it should be noted. Thursday night remain calm and clearing a bit as brief high pressure builds cresting early Friday morning. Friday will see increased clouds as a low moving northeast from the mid-Atlantic moves up. The coastal low will bring rain Friday night into Saturday and it may be heavy further south and close to the coast. As the low departs Sunday, clouds and the threat of rain showers will continue, possibly bringing convective thunderstorms in the afternoon hours.
